Koorosh OLYAI

  • Koorosh Olyai (Koo-rosh O-lee-ya-e) is DART’s Assistant Vice President for Mobility Programs.  With over 30 years of experience in planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and management of transportation facilities, he is responsible for DART’s HOV, Managed Lanes, Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems programs.

    Prior to joining DART in 1988, he served as Project Manager for BJI, City Transportation Engineer for the City of Denton, and Traffic Engineer for the City of Plano, Texas.

    Presently, he is leading the efforts to convert Dallas area’s HOV lanes to HOT lanes and the Integrated Corridor Management for the US 75 Corridor in Dallas, Texas.

    He is Chair and Convener of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 204 (TC204) Working Group 8 (WG8) for Public Transportation and Emergency Management.  Previously, he served as Chair of US Working Advisory Group 8 (WAG8).   

     Graduate of University of Minnesota in Civil Engineering, he is a Licensed Professional Engineer and serves on the Advisory Boards of the Texas Southern University and the University of Texas in Arlington. He has been recognized by FHWA, TRB, ITS Texas and featured in CNN’s Science & Technology.

    He is a member of APTA, ITE, ITS America and TRB Committee on Congestion Pricing.
