The event 2012

  • Cities and urban areas are at the heart of the challenges of tomorrow: public safety, health, education, quality of life, mobility, communication, water, environment, energy, sustainable development … Policy makers and political leaders are faced with the question of how to integrate and manage these multiple and interdependent needs, functions and infrastructures that determine the attractiveness of a city or a territory.

The convergence of the latest technologies in the urban environment has brought about the concept of the “Smart City” – making the city innovative. By innovation, we are not just referring to technological innovation, but also, and above all, societal or environmental innovation.

The Innovative City that is fully committed to developing in a sustainable way will be built around intelligent networks. These networks will be present at all levels to enable the best eco-actions and the most efficient individual or collaborative work. The Innovative City Convention to be held on 6 and 7 June at the Nice Acropolis aims to meet these challenges of tomorrow by bringing together industry, economic operators, as well as local decision makers and politicians..

The Innovative City Convention is the place for all professional involved in the city to share their vision. Together they will set up new ways of working such as public/private partnerships, as well as multi-disciplinary and multi-professional solutions necessary for the economic, societal and environmental progress sought by political leaders, economic actors and citizens.

Innovative City Convention consists of :

    • market place of around sixty exhibitors who will present their latest technologies and solutions
    • Fifteen conferences led by international speakers to discuss, to inform and to propose new ways forward
    • Pitch & demo sessions to share best practices and give demonstrations focused on 5 key sectors:

The ambition of Innovative City Convention is to mobilize all the stakeholders, a mobilization that will be determinant in developing the economic perspectives city by city, in the short, medium and long term. This will be achieved by identifying areas of investment, the expected benefits through new types of partnerships or public-private partnership models, and by taking advantage of synergies and skills platforms, demonstrators, and regional, national and international expertise.

Innovative City Convention will take place in Nice (Acropolis) on 6 and 7 June 2012. The city of Nice and the department of the Alpes Maritimes in general are experiencing many of the issues associated with smart cities and towns and the area is currently one of the best fields of experimentation and demonstration of innovative technical solutions in France.
